Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate have reached an agreement on Russian sanctions. A bill will be tabled which will forbid the President to reverse or soften sanctions; it was introduced by presidential decree, and could be reversed or softened in the same manner.
The sanctions were introduced during Barack Obama’s presidency against Russian citizens considered to be a part of cyber attacks, supplying arms to Syria, violating human rights and aggression against Ukraine.
Better relations with Russia was one of Donald Trump`s election promises. The Russian officials also claimed on numerous occasions that they expected better relations in case Trump wins.
