Two more cases of coronavirus discovered in Azerbaijan, bringing total number to 11
The new coronavirus COVID-19 has been detected in two Azerbaijani citizens who returned home from Iran. There are now 11 total cases in the country, and all those infected are being held at a special treatment center. Reports say that all of them are in stable condition save for one, whose condition is moderately severe.
On February 29, Azerbaijan closed the border with Iran, where already 7,000 have been infected and 200 have died as a result of the coronavirus. Azerbaijani citizens continue to return home from Iran and are placed in quarantine.
The country has taken the following measures to combat the spread of the virus:
closing all educational institutions until March 27;
canceling all concerts and large events;
disinfecting public transport and public institutions.
