An unusual operation was performed at the Inova clinic in Tbilisi wherein tweezers, left over from an operation performed over 25 years ago, were removed.
“The patient was 25 years old when the operation was carried out. While having his gallbladder removed, a pair of tweezers were left behind in his abdominal cavity,” says oncologist Irakli Todua, the surgeon who extracted the object.
He says that the patient did not experience any discomfort at all for the past 25 years.
“He came to our clinic seeking help for a different problem. The object was then discovered absolutely by accident when we took an MRI,” the oncologist said.
The Inova clinic published a photograph of the tweezers. A marker was photographed alongside the tweezers for scale.
