One morning, Sahil Park was occupied by the people with easels-schoolchildren, students and artists. A simultaneous drawing session was held with the blessing of Sabail district executive authorities.
It started at 10 a.m. Participants were split into three groups: schoolchildren, who were diligently elaborating on the patriotism theme; students of the Arts Academy, who were tasked to work on the ‘Khojaly tragedy’ theme’; and the participants in the Arts Council Azerbaijan NGO’s 11th plein air session, who were drawing the ‘Baku spring.’ Any interested individual could join the last group, provided that he/she had some paints and a canvas.
Citizens had an opportunity to see how the paintings were created and even to buy the one that they liked most. For that purpose, many artists wrote in bold their phone numbers on the reverse side of the canvas.
Plein air – a pictorial technique of reproduction of objects in natural light and in actual conditions.
