South Ossetia hosts first hip hop festival
South Ossetia is hosting its first-ever hip hop festival in the Chermen concert hall.
Ten young performers from South Ossetia and five from North Ossetia (Russia) are taking part in the event.
Organizers say that this is only the first event, and that young Russian rappers will also participate in the next one. Fifty young artists have already applied for the next event.
“There is quite a bit of talent in South Ossetia, but because of a lack of funding they can’t do much outside of South Ossetia. I personally financed the first event, including transport for festival participants. But at the next two events, I will look for sponsors,” said Nodar Pukhaev, head of the Art-Alania centre.
The festival will end with a gala-concert in July 2018.
