South Ossetia has been blacked out for three days now, after a massive snowfall broke the transmission line carrying electricity from Russia.
As they struggle to have the power supply resumed, the South Ossetian authorities have asked the Russian emergency ministry for a helicopter to help them inspect the Dzomag Gorge near the border with Russia, now almost inaccessible because of the snow, and to locate faults in the power line.
In the meantime, schools and kindergartens have been closed down in the capital of South Ossetia.
