Russia’s cyber army one of world’s strongest
Russia has made it into the top five states with the best cyber armies in the world.
It keeps a thousand-strong hacker staff and spends about 300 million dollars on its cyber security every year, newspaper Komersant reports, citing Moscow-based security consulting agency Zecurion.
Only a handful of countries worldwide have kept a cyber army as an integral part of their official military strategies, whereas over a hundred have invested in their cyberwarfare capability unofficially. The USA is the world’s leader, with a cyber security budget that stands at around 7 billion dollars a year and a hacker army of 9,000.
China comes second with a yearly budget worth 1,5 billion and a 20-thousand-strong army. Great Britain is placed third (450 million USD, 2,000 hackers), followed by South Korea (400 million USD, 700 hackers).
Cyber army operations include espionage, cyber attacks, and information wars.
