Russian serviceman killed in Gyumri

A knife-fight between a Russian military contract serviceman and a local resident took place in Kursk Square, Gyumri. Dmitry Yalpayev, 21, the serviceman, was stabbed to death.

Medics who arrived on the scene confirmed the serviceman’s death. They reported that the serviceman was holding ‘quite a big knife’ in his hand.

Police said the murder suspect has been detained. It turned out that he was a 20-year-old resident of Gyumri. Criminal proceedings in the case have been instituted.
