The opposition’s organized noisy protests are underway in Moscow, St. Petersburg and dozen other cities across Russia, on 12 June, on the ‘Russia Day’.
Over 200 people have been already arrested at the unsanctioned rallies in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The protesters have been arrested in some other cities too. In Moscow, police used pepper spray to break up the rally.
As for Alexander Navalny, an opposition politician and organizer of the protests, he was arrested nearby his house.
The protesters rally under the slogan ‘Russia without corruption’.
Russia Day is the national holiday, marked annually on the day of adoption of the Declaration of the State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, on 12 June, 1990.
