Land mine blast kills young man in South Ossetia
A 22-year-old man died in a land mine blast on Monday while herding cattle near the village of Auneu in South-Ossetia, the republic’s ministry for emergencies said.
“The mine was planted by the Georgian law enforcers who controlled the village until 2008”, colonel Boris Kulumbegov of the ministry’s fire prevention and civil defense department said.
Russian servicemen helped demine over 50 hectares of land in South Ossetia in 2016. Still, large territories remain to be cleared
