Today, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) marks the 26th anniversary of its declaration of independence with festivities having started early this morning. Celebrations are underway not only in the capital, but also in the towns and villages throughout the republic.
A delegation led by the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, along with guests from various countries, arrived in Karabakh to participate in the celebrations.
Government officials and foreign guests joined the Karabakh residents and marched from Stepanakert’s Revival Square to the municipal memorial complex where they laid down flowers and wreaths at the monument which symbolizes victory.
Flowers and wreaths were also laid at the graves of those who fell during the Karabakh war. A march of the Honor Guard of the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was also held.
A concert will be held at the Revival Square in the evening and will end with a fireworks show.
