Arkhip Labakhua works in the genre of urban sculpture. His bronzes of Chik and Nika, the boy protagonist and his girl friend from the famous Fazil Iskander’s fiction, set up on the Sukhum quay several years ago have since turned into one of the symbols of the Abkhaz capital.
The sculptor himself has become one of the most sought-after Abkhaz artists, with a style that makes him stand out from anybody else.

Arkhip also runs a puppet theatre. The theater’s repertoire – “Red Actor, “The Smell of Shadow, “I don’t care any more – relies on a combination of traditional techniques and his own variety of applique.
