Georgia starts selling its products in Europe

Sheep wool will be the first animal product that Georgia is going export to the EU market.

At this stage, only two Georgian companies – “Georgian Wools Ltd and the “Georgian Wool Company Ltd meet the European standards and they will be the exporters of the sheep wool to the EU countries.

‘We have an initial agreement with the Curtis wool direct limited company. After the wool, that we deliver, is processed, it will become clear, whether our cooperation will grow into a long-term one,’ – says Zaur Kuliyev, the head of “Georgian Wool Company’.

“Georgian Wools and “Georgian Wool Company are already exporting wool to India, Ukraine and China.The Association Agreement  that Georgia concluded with the European Union in 2014, has cleared the way for them.

Despite signing the aforesaid agreement, trading in Europe has proved to be far more complicated and required the company’s serious preparation for acquisition of a relevant European certificate. “Georgian Wools and “Georgian Wool Company were the first to overcome this barrier.
