Azerbaijan and Georgia signs 2018 agreement on the continuation of military cooperation
Azerbaijan and Georgia have agreed to further continue military cooperation in 2018.
The Defence Ministers of the two countries, Zakir Hasanov and Levan Izoria, signed a corresponding military cooperation plan in Baku regarding the agreement.
“During the meeting, the Defence Ministers focused on cooperation in the fields of verification and arms control. The sides also exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the military, military-technical, military–medical and military-educational spheres, conducting joint military exercises and organizing working meetings, as well as on some other issues of mutual interest,” the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry reported.
Levan Izoria expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his visit to Azerbaijan. As he pointed out, cooperation between Baku and Tbilisi was a spectacular example of a high-level partnership between the two countries.
Hasanov thanked the Georgian nation for supporting Azerbaijan in international organizations and for recognizing its territorial integrity. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s support for the territorial integrity of Georgia – the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry reported on its official website.
Hasanov also stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as military cooperation within the NATO framework and in the Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia defence agencies’ cooperation format.
