Abkhazian President calls on public not to ‘fall for reckless schemes and provocations’
President of Abkhazia, Raul Khajimba, addressed the nation in connection with increased tension ahead of the parliamentary election runoff, calling ‘not to fall for some reckless schemes and provocations, as well as to oppose those, who, for the sake of their personal and group interests, is ready to drag the country into chaos and total lawlessness.’
The reason for the President’s public address is the increasing tension ahead of the second round of election, that is scheduled for Sunday, March 26.
Khajimba termed as ‘dirty techniques’ the recent arson attack on a vehicle of MP candidate, Batal Ayba, who stands in Sukhum constituency #4, as well as shelling of another MP candidate Kakha Pertaya’s vehicle, who got into the second round from Gali constituency.
“Certain candidates’ supporters…are exerting pressure on the electorate…resorting to bribery, fraud, misinformation against undesirable competitors,” Raul Khajimba said and stressed that all necessary measures had been taken to identify individuals involved in arson and shelling.
