What will the 2016 elections be best remembered for
In post-election Georgia, things seem to be only beginning now. But we’ve decided to relax and take a look back at the past several weeks. That was a stressful period all right, but there were many funny moment as well
Individuals, who abandoned Paata Burchuladze’s party
Could you recall even a single day without the media reports about the members of the prominent operatic bass, PaataBurchuladze’s ‘State for People’ party abandoning it? We can’t recall such.
People were leaving the party en masse, towns and villages, dozens and hundreds abandoned the party. And as this process never ended, some assumptions were made on social media that people, who had been enticed in Burchuladze’s party, were the Chinese, rather than Georgians.
‘Herocracy’
We are not sure of the Russian name of this 24-series film. It cost BidzinaIvanishviliGEL38million to produce the film directed by GogaKhaindarava, a Georgian filmmaker, aimed to remind Georgian electorate ahead of elections about the dark sides of Saakashvili’s epoch and his hedonistic inclinations. The film features numerous scenes of violence and torture. However, those, who watched the series obviously enjoyed the scenes with Saakashvili masturbating and taking part in the orgy.
After each episode, the ‘Herocracy’ Facebook page administrator was trying to develop interaction with the audience by putting one and the same question: ‘Have you watched the episode? What do you think of it? Should they (the National Movement) get back to power?!’
The authors of the film were obviously eager to implement the order. 38 million is a lot of money anyway.
Kaladze and Rustavi 2 TV
Those, who watched the Georgian Dream’s political presentation on Rustavi 2 TV, can easily go and watch the sequel of ‘Friday 13′ next year.
Communication between the politicians and journalists went beyond the interview line in the very beginning of the program, and what it ended with was Minister KakhaKaladze advising the female reporter, who was arguing with him, to look into the mirror.
The captive man of the Caucasus
Every time Ivanishvili addresses the audience it is a festive day for the social media. He gives people lots of reasons to demonstrate their sense of humour. The campaign proved to be no exception. Though Ivanishvili has ceased to be the prime-minister or any minister at all long ago, he travelled across the country meeting journalists and campaigning for the Georgian Dream. In his two hours long monologues he went way beyond the Georgian politics, dwelling on philosophical, global, existential issues. Were you aware, for example, that a toast in the “Captive woman of the Caucasus contains a mystery of human existence?
“There is a toast in the “Caucasian captive woman”, which reflects the basic philosophy of human perfection. I have spent much time, I have been closely watching the human development process for 40 years. I am engaged in psychology, psychoanalysis, philosophy, he said during one of the regional meetings. The reporters actually attended the event in hope to discuss unemployment and poor state of the roads.
Givi Kamikaze
MP Givi Targamadze’s car exploded in Tbilisi centre three days before the elections. GiviTargamadze and his driver were in the car and they miraculously escaped the death. Several bypassers were injured, who are getting better now, thanks God. At the first glance, there is no place for such a grievous criminal story in our rating, but the matter is that the authorities viewed as one of the versions that GiviTargamadze had exploded himself for the sake of political gains. He could surely make use of them in the better world. That’s how Givi Targamadze was renamed into Givi Kamikaze.
Besik Chubinidze’s campaign poster
And not only his one. We’ve selected here the most remarkable campaign art pieces:
Beso Chubinidze is #26 in the election candidates’ list, therefore this candidate decided to strike out a line of his own and enlisted his 26 personal features. The list of personal features includes: ‘a decent father’, ‘as courageous as the bodiless power’, ‘the best friend’ etc. “Supercreative was not on the list, though.
This lady is holding a campaign poster that reads: “I am the state’
We aren’t going to spoil these posters by translating them
