Armenia has received 58 applications this year from EU countries for the readmission of 87 individuals

According to Gagik Yeganyan, the Chief of Armenia’s State Migration Service, the number of Armenians deported from EU countries has increased considerably over the past two years.
“In 2014, we received two readmission applications. In 2015, we received 36 readmission applications from 62 individuals, whereas in 2016 there were 74 applications. As of 30 August 2017,  we received 58 applications from 87 individuals,” he said.
The Chief of the Migration Service also presented statistical data regarding the number of applications from EU-countries requesting confirmation of Armenian citizenship status of some individuals. “We received 255 similar applications in 2016, and had 544 such applications up until 30 August, 2017,” he said.

In 2013, Armenia and the EU signed the Readmission Agreement, according to this document deportation of Armenian citizens illegally staying in European countries is carried out.
