No place for Communists in Georgia: the chairman of the parliament regarded the participants of the rally as Communists

The general public hearing of the constitutional amendments will not be held in Tbilisi Concert Hall today. Chairman of the Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, says a provocation is taking place and that there’s no point in proceeding with the meeting.

Follow the path of Ilia! Stop with communism! Georgia isn’t a place for Communists.

With these words the Speaker of Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, addressed to a group of young people that attended the final discussion of the draft constitution and demanded legislative changes to improve working conditions. Kobakhidze accused participants of the rally of abusive behavior.

“Facade solidarity is an invention of the Communists. It’s not your path. Follow the path of Ilia Chavchavadze! Communism in Georgia is over! It’s a consequence of a lack of knowledge. Stay on the sober side! The concept of communism is over! “- said Irakli Kobakhidze

In his speech at the Philharmonic Grand Concert Hall, the former Deputy State Minister for Diaspora Issues, Sandro Bregadze, stressed the prohibition of alienation of lands as one of the main demands of protest.

You are legalizing the selling of our ancestral lands, we won’t let you do that. Georgian land will not be sold, “said Bregadze. The Chairman of the Parliament regarded the statement as a lie.

Final discussion of the draft constitution of Georgia in the concert hall of the Tbilisi Philharmonic began with the protest of members of the organization “Auditorium 115”. They appealed to the members of the constitutional commission, shouting slogans: “The constitution for the people”, “for miners”.

Participants of the rally demand introduction of the right of labor into the constitution, and setting up of an inspection service on labor protection. At the moment, ordinary citizens are calling on the politicians to stand up for the rights of the working people.
